Typically, information about these additional downloads/installations is not properly disclosed, however, it can be found in 'Custom', 'Advanced', and other parts of the software set-ups. In other cases, people download or install PUAs when they click dubious ads that execute scripts designed to start the download or installation process of PUAs. In summary, inadvertent installations and downloads happen due to careless behaviour - when people leave the aforementioned settings unchanged or click ads that should not be trusted.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

Download software and files from official and trustworthy websites. Third party software downloaders/installers, Peer-to-Peer networks such as eMule, torrent clients, various dubious pages, and other sources cannot be trusted. Check all available 'Advanced'/Custom' and other sections/settings of the download or installation setup and dismiss offers to download or install additionally-included, unwanted programs. Ads displayed on dubious sites (relating to gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on) can lead to other untrustworthy websites. My little brother somehow deleted all access to deleting it and whatnot and I somehow got it deleted anyways. I am smart in tech but my weakness is.. deleting. anything. Even legitimate apps and programs xD
